One label per line — just the code, or “CODE, Name” to print a title next to the barcode.

  2. 2. Pick a label sheet

Choose an Avery size. The preview shows exactly what each label will look like.

  3. 3. Print or download

Print a ready-to-peel sheet on label paper, or download a single barcode as SVG/PNG.

Barcode label questions

Is this barcode generator really free?

Yes — free, no signup, and no watermark. Labels are generated entirely in your browser; your codes are never uploaded to a server.

What barcode format does it use?

CODE128 — the most common format for internal SKUs and asset tags. It encodes letters, numbers, and standard symbols, and any barcode scanner or scanning app can read it.

Which label sheets can I print on?

Avery 5160/8160 (2.625 × 1″, 30 per sheet), Avery 5163/5263 (4 × 2″, 10 per sheet), and Avery 5164 (4 × 3.33″, 6 per sheet) — plus any compatible generic sheet with the same layout. You can also print on plain paper and cut.

Can I track what happens to the items after I label them?

That's what metItem is for — an inventory app that reads these labels. Use your item codes on the labels, and scanning one looks the item up so anyone can check quantity, photos, and location on the spot. Scanning is included on every plan, and the free plan covers 100 items with no credit card required.

Labels are step one. Knowing what you have is the win.

metItem turns these labels into a live inventory — scan to look up an item, track quantities across trucks, sites, and stores, and get low-stock alerts before you run out.
