Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to store information. Similar technologies (like local storage) work the same way. This Cookie Policy explains how metItem uses cookies on metitem.com.
2. The cookies we use
Essential cookies
These are required for the Service to work. They include authentication cookies (set by Amazon Cognito after you sign in) and a small amount of local storage that remembers your layout preferences (such as which view you chose on the Items tab). You can't opt out of essential cookies and still use the Service.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used so we can fix bugs and improve features. PostHog uses cookies and local storage to assign an anonymous identifier and to remember which events have already been sent. We don't use this for advertising, and we don't share the data with ad networks.
Third-party integration cookies
When you choose to connect a third-party integration (for example, QuickBooks, Slack, or Microsoft Teams), those services may set their own cookies as part of the sign-in flow. Those are governed by their own cookie policies.
3. Controlling cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that if you block essential cookies, the Service won't work correctly — for example, you won't be able to stay signed in.
To opt out of PostHog analytics specifically, you can enable "Do Not Track" in your browser; PostHog respects this signal.
4. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies evolves. If we make material changes, we will give you reasonable notice before the change takes effect.
